Trip Leader Mentor Program

The Trip Leader Mentor Program was instituted in the NH Chapter in 1998. The purpose of the program is to ensure that person who desires to become a Trip leader for the NH Chapter will have the proper training and experience. The ultimate goal is to provide all participants in NH Chapter Excursions Committee trips with a fun, informed, and above all, safe experience.

Those who are participating in the Mentor Program are referred to as Potential Trip Leaders. Once a Potential Trip Leader meets all the prerequisites for a particular level of leadership, he/she must begin a series of trips under the guidance of Mentors. These trips are designed to give the Potential Trip Leader a wide range of experience. With each trip, an increasing level of responsibility placed on the Potential Trip Leader. To ensure that the Potential Trip Leader gets a varied experience, a different Mentor is required for each trip. All the while, the Potential Trip Leader's progress is tracked on a Mentor Evaluation Form.

When the Potential Trip Leader completes all the requirements of the program, the Evaluation Form is submitted to the Excursions Committee Chair for approval by Trip Leader Board of Acceptance.

Trip Leader Board of Acceptance

To oversee the operations of the Trip Leader Mentor Program, a Trip Leader Board of Acceptance was formed. In addition to establishing all Trip Leader requirements, it is the responsibility of this board is to receive and evaluate the Potential Trip Leaders' completed Mentors Evaluation Forms. After evaluating the submitted form, it is at the discretion Board to grant or deny Trip Leader status. It may also assign additional requirements to the Potential Trip Leader as it sees fit before a final decision is made. This board is made up of six members of the Excursions Committee.
