YOUNG MEMBERS GROUP

The New Hampshire Chapter Young Members Committee was formed in 2002 to get people in their 20's and 30's involved in AMC activities and has since proved to be immediately popular. A list serve was created to allow easy communication among members and our Yahoo Group site allows us to share pictures, files and other information. Since then, over 400 people have joined the email list and have organized and participated in a number of trips including hikes, kayaking, indoor rock climbing, hut trips and trail work.

As part of our effort to promote interest and involvement, we are currently working to establish relationships with the other committees in the NH Chapter so young members will be aware of and become involved in all that the AMC has to offer. We have hiking and paddling leaderswho lead trips geared towards Young Members and who work to help other Young Members pursue leadership.

We encourage anyone interested in joining, to subscribe to our group list by simply sending a blank email to:

You will then receive a responding message that will explain what to do next. To access the youngamcnh group site, follow the additional instructions for setting up a Yahoo Groups ID.

The group also has informal monthly gatherings at local establishments in different regions of the state where members can meet like-minded people to socialize and make plans with. As you can see in the schedule below, we have established dates for group social activities: Stay tuned to the listserv for upcoming events. As our leaders in training start co-leading hikes, more official Young Members trips will also be appearing in Outdoors magazine. By encouraging young members to take an active role in the club, we hope to promote diversity and strengthen the whole organizaiton.

All AMC members in their 20's and 30's (as well as those who are in their 20's and 30's at heart) are welcome to attend any of these events.
So come out and meet some new friends who are interested in the same things you are!
